French Drain

A French Drain is an excellent way to keep water from penetrating into a basement area. The perimeter of the basement floor is excavated and the resulting trench. Any water permeating the outer wall then drops into the trench, flows to a low point and is pumped out using a sump pump = dry basement! A french drain looks like a big deal right? WRONG!
